Intense

Seems to do a good job. My dentist said to just hold it on the teeth and not circulate it like a manual brush. The brush stem and head is a bit big for me, so I just use it with water because it makes a drooly mess with the toothpaste. I like it anyway, especially for the back of my teeth and molars. It does a little “hesitant rhythm” every 30 seconds as a timer to move on to the next quadrant, without the beep. Charge lasts about a week.Read more

Great price and works well

This design is slightly different from my previous Oral-B one. The "On" button is no longer raised and convex. It's more concave and harder to find by feel. There's a green light that shows if the unit is charging--that'll no doubt burn out in time. I do like the new coating on the back of the brush. Instead of soft plastic ridges, it's a harder dimpled surface that is easier to keep clean. My teeth still show marks from using a manual toothbrush too vociferously before I switched over about 20 years ago. I'm not shelling out however many dollars for a Sonicare. My dentist doesn't think they are any better, and my teeth cleanings are very speedy. It seems six years is the average lifespan of these toothbrushes. After about 5 years, they don't hold a charge as well. I rarely travel with mine, so I've no experience with that. I just keep it plugged in and sitting on the charger 24/7. I was suspicious of reports that this toothbrush is suddenly louder, but it is. I had to replace my old toothbrush (same model, but six years old), so I compared the noise level. This new version is a couple tones lower and some decibels louder. I get migraines from noise, and this doesn't give me a migraine, so I will live with it. Also, about the complaint that the sound changes periodically: yes, the sound lets you know when it's time to move to the next quadrant. The loudness issue seems like an American problem. Vacuum manufacturers know that Americans equate loud noise with power, and thus our vacuums are extra noisy. Meanwhile European vacuums are made to be as quiet as possible. I hope Oral-B engineers take heed that often we're trying to wind down for the night when we're brushing our teeth, so there's no need to jar our senses wide awake.Read more

Great no-fuss electric toothbruh

I must say that I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. This toothbrush has completely transformed my oral hygiene routine. The toothbrush comes with multiple brushing modes, including a gentle mode for sensitive teeth and a deep-cleaning mode for a more thorough clean. I appreciate the variety of modes, as it allows me to customize my brushing experience based on my needs. The toothbrush has a long-lasting battery life and comes with a charging dock, making it easy to charge the toothbrush whenever needed. I also appreciate that the toothbrush has a built-in timer, which helps me ensure that I am brushing for the recommended two minutes. The toothbrush also has a pressure sensor that alerts me when I am brushing too hard, which helps me avoid damaging my gums. The bristles of the toothbrush are soft and gentle on my teeth and gums, but still provide a thorough cleaning. The brush head is also easy to replace, which is a great feature as it ensures that I am always using a fresh, clean brush head. The toothbrush is also very quiet, which is a bonus for me as I prefer a more peaceful brushing experience. The toothbrush is also lightweight and easy to hold, which makes brushing more comfortable. The only downside of the rechargeable electric toothbrush is that it may be a bit more expensive than a traditional manual toothbrush. However, I believe the investment is worth it for the improved oral hygiene benefits and the convenience of the rechargeable battery. Overall, I highly recommend this rechargeable electric toothbrush to anyone looking to improve their oral hygiene routine. The toothbrush is durable, easy to use, and provides an excellent cleaning experience that leaves my teeth feeling clean and fresh.Read more

Garbage. DO NOT BUY!!

I had previously owned a higher model oral b brush and thought it was excellent, but I never used any of the fancy features. When it came to needing a new one, I did my research and thought this was the best value for core features. They lead you to believe this model is similar to the higher models in the important ways minus the unnecessary fancy things. WRONG. The battery life is worse than any device I have ever owned. 1-2 days to get a full charge, which lasts for about 3 days. Fine if you sit it on the stand every day, but the stand gets gross, and definitely not ideal for travel. The motor is extremely violent, like brushing with a small engine lawn mower or a jack hammer, unlike my old one which was smooth and more effective. This brush is the furthest thing from good value even at $50. My advice is spend a bit more and get a higher model with an LIon battery and smoother brushing.Read more

NiMH battery, not Lithium

Great toothbrush overall, but it really bugs the crap out of me that they lie in the product description on Amazon. It clearly says in the ad that it has a "lithium polymer battery" which would be kind of odd for such a device, but ok what do I know? Then I get the brush, and before even opening it I notice it clearly says on the bottom of box that it contains a NiMH battery. Dont get me wrong, it performs fine - but consider what people are commenting on re: battery life/charging. Takes a long time to charge (Days), instructions tell you to fully discharge batt once in a while, before recharging it to maintain batt life, etc. These are all telltale features of primitive, obsolete NiMH batts (think of cordless drills 15 years ago. theres a reason they all switched to Li-Ion) I think Oral B can do better, and that Amazon should cease lying to customers.Read more

Our dentist is happy with us

Love love love this toothbrush! We've since bought another Oral-B electric toothbrush (different type) from the drugstore and I don't like it nearly as much. The PRO 1000 has a timer that goes off every 30 seconds—with a longer vibration at the 2-minute mark—so you spend the correct amount of time brushing each quarter of your mouth. The charge lasts for days at a time and we just leave it on the charger overnight when it's running low. If you push too hard while brushing, it makes a weird noise so you know to ease up (a problem my husband's had in the past). I also appreciate the light on the front: if it's running low, a red light will start flashing so you know it's time to charge.Read more

Get the Pro 1500 instead.

Update #2: I know the Pro 1500 isn't on Oral-B's website. When I bought the Pro 1500 nearly a year ago, I asked Oral-B why it's not on their site because I was concerned I had just bought a discontinued product. They assured me that it was in fact a brand new item that they had just released and that they were going to add the Pro 1500 to their site "soon". I realize that it's nearly a year later and they still haven't done it even though they are still manufacturing it, but I have been to their site several times per month since then and I can tell you that I'm honestly not surprised it's not on their site yet. I get the impression that anyone could do a better job with their site up-keep than whoever is doing it now. I have even noticed that it's kinda somewhat falling apart. Some elements no longer work and haven't worked for months. Their products are fine, they just need better people to handle and operate their website. Update #1: When I wrote this review, the price was the same for the Pro 1000 and Pro 1500 (including both the black and white Pro 1000s). Today, the price for the Pro 1500 nearly $20 more than it was when I wrote this review, and currently close to $30 more than the Pro 1000. [Original review below] I bought this to replace a very new Vitality. It was a *HUGE* upgrade over the Vitality, but then I saw the Pro 1500 and learned from Oral-B that it's quite superior. The Pro 1000's specs are: - 1 cleaning mode: Daily Clean - 8,800 oscillations per minute and 20,000 pulsations per minute on the Daily Clean mode - A pressure sensor that's supposed to just stop the pulsations when it's triggered - A pro timer that hesitates the motor once every 30 seconds, and 3 times every 2 minutes - A NiMH battery (old technology) - A battery life of 28 minutes (7 days, 2 minutes per day 2 times per day) - A full recharge time of 22 hours - A green charge indicator LED that blinks while charging, but stays off when it's not charging - A red battery level indicator that blinks a few times upon on/off if the battery needs to be charged - The CrossAction brush head The Pro 1500's specs are: - 2 cleaning modes: Daily Clean and Sensitive - 9,900 oscillations per minute and 45,000 pulsations per minute on the Daily Clean mode (these speeds are faster than any I've seen so far in the specs of any of Oral-B's electric toothbrushes, including the Genius 8000 - they all seem to top out at 8,800 oscillations per minute and 40,000 pulsations per minute) - 7,400 oscillations per minute and 33,000 pulsations per minute on the Sensitive mode - A pressure sensor using a red LED that turns on when the pressure sensor is triggered - A pro timer that hesitates the motor once every 30 seconds, and 3 times every 2 minutes - A Lithium Ion battery - A battery life of 56 minutes (14 days, 2 minutes per day 2 times per day) - A full recharge time of 12 hours - A green charge indicator LED that blinks while charging, but stays off when it's not charging - A red battery level indicator that blinks a few times upon on/off if the battery needs to be charged. - The CrossAction brush head The Vitality is extremely basic: - 1 cleaning mode: Daily Clean - 7,600 oscillations per minute. - A timer that hesitates the motor 3 times every 2 minutes - A NiMH battery - A battery life of 20 minutes (5 days, 2 minutes per day 2 times per day) - A full recharge time of 19 hours - No charge indicators or battery life indicators - Mine came with the Sensitive Gum Care brush head In comparison, the Vitality seems like a cheap generic electric toothbrush. Don't consider buying it. When I upgraded to the Pro 1000, it was amazing. I wanted to burst at the seams and write an extremely rave review, but then I learned about *and ordered* the Oral-B Pro 1500. After using it, I can tell you that the Pro 1500 is *FAR* better than the Pro 1000. I honestly feel the Pro 1000 should be discontinued and no one should ever buy it. I mean really, the Pro 1500 is only $10 more right now and it destroys the Pro 1000. I would have given the Pro 1000 4 stars instead of just 3 if it had a Lithium Ion battery. They charge faster and last longer without charging. So yeah, I am not sure I would recommend the Pro 1000 if you can get the Pro 1500. The Pro 1500 is a much wiser purchase. I'm *extremely* happy with mine. It blows the Pro 1000 out of the water.Read more

Does a good job, and battery last long enough for a week!

Let me set the stage... I brush my teeth at least twice a day and typically three times. I find flossing tedious and most days I don't bother. My dentist suggested this type of brush as part of helping to address some gum irritation. This thing is great. Tooth brushing no longer feels like and awkward messy chore. It is quick, clean and I can feel the difference - teeth have that slick, just left the dentist feel. I like the pressure sensor that notifies me if I am pressing harder than I should. I was worried about travel and having it run out or needing to make sure it was always in the charger. Not a concern. I cheated it overnight when it arrived. I have purposely not charged it again since then. A week later, it is still going strong without a charge.Read more

Best brush I've ever bought

I am really very pleased with this toothbrush. Before I bought it I read a number of reviews including the bad one and had a couple of concerns about buying, but I'm really happy I went ahead and bought. The first thing I did was read the instructions and felt that the negative reviews came from people who did not read how to use their brush. One example was someone said they were annoyed how the brush would hesitate how every so often, but what that is is a 30 second timer so you can ensure that you brush your teeth equally in every part of your mouth. People complained that the charging time took too long. What I learned was that the FIRST charging takes 22 hours then after that you leave the brush on the charger and its always available when you want to brush. The instructions direct that once every 6 months you let the builtin battery run right down and then you give it the full 22 hour recharge. I am finding that in 1 short month my teeth feel much cleaner and with the help of whitening tooth paste and whitening mouthrinse my teeth are starting to look whiter. It was not an overnight thing but a gradual change. I'm now recommending this brush to everyone I kmow.Read more
